Wojnicz is an ancient historic town located in Tarnów County within the Lesser Poland Voivodeship of Poland. During the early medieval period, it served as one of the most significant centers in the province as part of the Dunajec river castle system.
The town prospered from the 13th century until the first half of the 17th century due to its position on an international trade route bordering Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. It held both town and market rights, and its church was elevated to collegiate status with formal links to the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
