Wieliczka is a historic town located in southern Poland within the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. Situated in the Kraków metropolitan area, the town was originally founded in 1290 by Premislaus II of Poland. As of 2023, the population of the town was estimated at 27,845.
The town is primarily recognized for its historic old town core and the Wieliczka Salt Mine. The salt mine was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978, while the old town core was designated as one of the National Polish Monuments in 1994.
