Chełm is a city located in eastern Poland within the Lublin Voivodeship. As of December 2021, the city had a population of 60,231 inhabitants. It is situated southeast of Lublin, north of Zamość, and south of Biała Podlaska, positioned approximately 25 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
The city serves as a point on the Chełm–Kovel railway line, which connects it to Kovel. This specific rail link is notable for being the longest standard-gauge railway connecting Ukraine to the rest of Europe.
