Drzewica is a town located in Opoczno County within the Łódź Voivodeship of Poland. As of December 2021, the municipality had a population of 3,778 inhabitants. Geographically, it is situated on the Drzewiczka river in the northwestern corner of the historic province of Lesser Poland. Between 1975 and 1998, the town was part of the Radom Voivodeship.
The town is notable for its historical architecture and industrial heritage. In the first half of the 16th century, Maciej Drzewicki, the Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland, constructed a rectangular-shaped castle surrounded by a moat. Although the structure burned in 1814, it remains a well-preserved ruin today. Additionally, Drzewica is home to Gerlach, a prominent cutlery manufacturer that was originally founded in Warsaw in 1760.
