Toruń is a city located on the Vistula River in north-central Poland. It serves as one of the two capitals of the Kuyavian–Pomeranian Voivodeship, sharing this role with Bydgoszcz. The city and its neighboring counties comprise the Bydgoszcz–Toruń twin city metropolitan area.
The city is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As of December 2021, Toruń had a population of 196,935. Historically, it served as the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship from 1921 to 1945 and the Toruń Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998.
