Bydgoszcz is a city located in northern Poland and serves as the largest city in the historical region of Kuyavia. As of December 2021, it had a population of 339,053, making it the eighth-largest city in the country.

The city is situated at the confluence of the Vistula River and its left-bank tributary, the Brda. This strategic location has established Bydgoszcz as an inland port and a significant center for trade and transportation. It currently serves as the seat of Bydgoszcz County and one of the two capitals of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, acting as the seat for its centrally appointed governor, the voivode.
