Legnica is a city located in southwestern Poland within the central part of the Lower Silesia region. It is situated on the Kaczawa River and the Czarna Woda. As of 2023, the city had a population of 97,300 inhabitants.
The city serves as the seat of the county and has been the seat of the Diocese of Legnica since 1992.
