Khaplu, also spelled Khapalu, is a city located in Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan within the disputed Kashmir region. It serves as the administrative capital of the Ghanche District and is situated approximately 103 km (64 mi) east of Skardu.
Historically, Khaplu was the second-largest kingdom in Baltistan under the Yabgo dynasty. The city played a significant role in guarding the trade route to Ladakh along the Shyok River, which is located near its confluence with the Indus River.
