Kot Diji is an ancient archaeological site located in the modern-day province of Sindh, Pakistan. It is situated approximately 45 km (28 mi) south of Khairpur on the east bank of the Indus River, positioned directly opposite the well-known site of Mohenjo-daro.
The site dates back to approximately 3300 BCE and served as a significant location during the early or formative stage of the Indus Valley Civilisation. Archaeological remains at the site are divided into two distinct sections: a citadel area situated on high ground and the surrounding lower area. Excavations conducted by the Pakistan Department of Archaeology in 1955 and 1957, along with earlier work by F. A. Khan in 1954-55, identified the specific cultural assemblage known as Kot Dijian.
