Pakpattan, also known as Pākpattan Sharīf, is an ancient historic city located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Pakpattan district and is recognized as one of the oldest cities in Asia. According to the 2017 census, it ranks as the 48th largest city in Pakistan by population.
The city is a significant religious site as the seat of the Sufi Chisti order in Pakistan. It is a major pilgrimage destination primarily due to the Shrine of Baba Farid, a renowned Sufi saint and Punjabi poet. The town hosts an annual urs fair in his honor, which attracts approximately 2 million visitors each year.
