Kahuta is a census-designated place, city, and tehsil located in the Rawalpindi District of Punjab, Pakistan. According to the 2017 census, the population of the Kahuta Tehsil is approximately 220,576.
The area is notably home to the Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL), which was established to conduct the Kahuta Project as part of the country's atomic bomb project. Prior to the development of this project, the site served as a small public community and was occupied by retired officers of the Pakistan Army.
