Upper Dir District is a geographical region located in the northern part of Pakistan within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Malakand Division, with the city of Dir serving as its district headquarters.
The district is bordered by several regions: Chitral to the north, Afghanistan to the northwest, Swat to the east, and Lower Dir to the south. Notably, Upper Dir shares a border with Afghanistan that extends between 40 and 50 kilometers in length.
