Dera Ismail Khan, often abbreviated as D.I. Khan, is a city and the headquarters of the Dera Ismail Khan District in Pakistan. It is located within the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is situated on the west bank of the Indus River at its junction with the Gomal River.
The city ranks as the 10th largest city in Pakistan by population. Within the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it is recognized as either the third or fourth largest city.
