General Emilio Aguinaldo refers to a historical figure rather than a city in the Philippines. Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy was a Filipino revolutionary, statesman, and military leader who served as the first president of the Philippines from 1899 to 1901. He is recognized as the first president of an Asian constitutional republic.
Aguinaldo led Philippine forces during several major conflicts, beginning with the Philippine Revolution against Spain (1896–1898). He subsequently commanded forces in the Spanish–American War in 1898 and later against the United States during the Philippine–American War from 1899 to 1901. While he is regarded as the country's first president during the period of the First Philippine Republic, this status was not recognized outside of the revolutionary Philippines.
