Trento, also known as Trent, is a city located on the Adige River in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of Italy. It serves as the capital of the autonomous province of Trento (Trentino).

Historically, the city was part of Austria and Austria-Hungary before being annexed by Italy in 1919. In the 16th century, it served as the location for the Council of Trent.

As of 2022, Trento has a population of 118,142 inhabitants. It is recognized as the third largest municipality in the Alps and the second largest in the historical region of Tyrol.
