Pantar is an island located in the Indonesian Alor Archipelago. It serves as the second largest island in the archipelago, following Alor. The island covers a total area of 776.12 square kilometres (299.66 sq mi) and measures approximately 50 kilometres from north to south, with an east-west width varying between 11 and 29 kilometres.
The island is situated in a region bounded by the Banda Sea to the north and the Alor Strait to the west, which separates it from the Solor Archipelago. To its east lie the island of Alor and several smaller islands, while the Ombai Strait lies to the south, approximately 72 kilometres (45 mi) from the island of Timor. Administratively, Pantar is part of the Alor Regency, with Baranusa and Kabir serving as the main towns on the island.
