Bugo

Philippines

Bugo is the professional stage name of Cristian Bugatti, an Italian singer-songwriter, artist, and actor. Born in the Piedmont region of Italy, he spent his youth in the rice fields of Cerano in the Province of Novara before moving to Milan in 2000 to begin his musical career.

A self-taught artist who did not attend formal music or art schools, Bugo is recognized as a pioneer of the Italian singer-songwriter scene. He is noted for blending international sounds with Italian lyrics and transitioning political songwriting styles into the disillusioned themes of the 2000s. His unique style led to the coining of the neologism "fantautore" to describe his work.

Bugo has been a prominent figure in the Italian independent music scene since the 1990s. While he is highly regarded by critics and fans for his innovation, some observers categorize his work as a comedy act. His notable public appearances include participation in the Sanremo Music Festival in both 2020 and 2021.
