Mabuhay

Philippines

Mabuhay is a Filipino greeting commonly expressed as "Mabuhay!" which translates to "long live!". The term is frequently used during celebrations as a toast meaning "cheers" and bears a similarity to the Hawaiian expression "aloha."

The phrase is widely utilized within the local hospitality industry to welcome guests. This practice originated from a 1993 campaign launched by restaurateur Rod Ongpauco, who intended to provide foreign visitors to the Philippines with a more unique and traditional welcome.
