Murcia is a city located in south-eastern Spain. It serves as the capital and most populous city of the autonomous community known as the Region of Murcia. Situated on the Segura River in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, it is currently ranked as the seventh-largest city in Spain.

As of 2024, the city has a population of 471,982, while its metropolitan area reached a population of 672,773 in 2020. The urban area covers approximately 1,230.9 km2. The region is characterized by a climate featuring hot summers, mild winters, and relatively low levels of precipitation.
