Lima

Peru

Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru, serving as the nation's primate city. It is situated in the desert zone of the country's central coastal region, specifically within the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac, and Lurín Rivers, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The metropolis functions as the primary political, cultural, financial, and commercial center of Peru. Jurisdictionally, the city extends mainly within the province of Lima and into a smaller western portion of the Constitutional Province of Callao, which houses the Jorge Chávez Airport and the seaport. Both provinces have maintained regional autonomy since 2002.
