Moyobamba, also known as Muyupampa, is the capital city of the San Martín Region in northern Peru. It serves as the administrative seat for both the Moyobamba Province and the Moyobamba District. The city is also referred to by the titles "Santiago of eight valleys of Moyobamba" and "Maynas capital."
The region surrounding the city is characterized by its diverse biodiversity, specifically hosting approximately 3,500 species of native orchids. Due to this rich floral variety, the city is frequently recognized by the nickname "The City of Orchids." According to the 2017 census, Moyobamba has a population of 50,073 inhabitants.
