Moquegua is a city situated in southern Peru within the Moquegua Department. It serves as the capital of both the department and the Mariscal Nieto Province, as well as the seat of the Moquegua District.
The city is located approximately 1,144 kilometers south of Lima, the capital city of Peru. It functions as a primary administrative center for its surrounding region in the southern portion of the country.
