Yurimaguas is a port town located in the Loreto Region of the northeastern Peruvian Amazon. Situated within the rainforest, it sits at the confluence of the Huallaga and Paranapura Rivers. The city serves as the capital for both the Yurimaguas District and the Alto Amazonas Province.
Historically associated with the Mainas missions, the town is characterized by its cultural diversity and is affectionately known as the "Pearl of the Huallaga." As of 2017, the population of Yurimaguas was estimated to be approximately 62,903 inhabitants.
