Chiclayo is the principal city and capital of both the Lambayeque region and the Chiclayo Province in northern Peru. It serves as a primary urban center for the area, situated inland from the coastline.
The city is located approximately 13 km (8.1 mi) from the Pacific coast. It sits roughly 208 km (129 mi) from the city of Trujillo and is positioned about 770 km (480 mi) away from Lima, the capital of Peru.
