Arequipa is a city located in southern Peru. It serves as the capital of both the Arequipa Province and the Department of Arequipa.
As the second most populous city in Peru after Lima, it has a projected population of 1,195,700 for the year 2025. The city is recognized as the official seat of the Constitutional Court of Peru and is commonly referred to as the "Legal Capital of Peru."
