Chimbote, also known by its Quechua name Chimputi, is a city located in northwestern Peru. It serves as the capital of both the Santa Province and the Chimbote District within the Ancash Region.
The city is the largest urban center in the Ancash Region and ranks as the tenth most populous city in Peru. Situated at an altitude of 4 meters, it is a significant population hub with a recorded population of 425,367 in 2017.
