Portobelo is a historic port and corregimiento located in the Portobelo District of Panama's Colón Province. Situated on the northern part of the Isthmus of Panama, the town is positioned approximately 32 km (20 mi) northeast of the modern port of Colón at the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal.
The area serves as the seat of the Portobelo District and has a recorded population of 4,559 as of 2010. It remains a significant historical site within the region's coastal geography.
