Darchula is a district located in the Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. It serves as a geographical region characterized by its proximity to the international border with India.
The district headquarters is the town of Khalanga, which is situated on the bank of the Mahakali River. Khalanga is part of the Mahakali Municipality within the Mahakali Zone and sits adjacent to the Dharchula District in the Uttarakhand state of India, which shares a similarly named town on the Indian side of the border.
