Panauti is a municipality located in the Kavrepalanchok District within the Bagmati Province of Nepal. It is situated approximately 32 kilometers southeast of the national capital, Kathmandu.
The area is notable for its medieval architectural complex, which was officially nominated by the Nepalese government as a UNESCO tentative site in 1996.
