Bhaktapur

Nepal

Bhaktapur, historically referred to as Bhadgaon and known locally as Khwopa, is a city located in the eastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. Situated approximately 13 kilometres from the capital city of Kathmandu, it serves as one of the three primary cities within the valley alongside Kathmandu and Lalitpur.

The city is recognized as a major Newar settlement and is noted for its distinct Newar traditions, cuisine, and artisans. Despite being the smallest municipality in Nepal by size, it is characterized by being the country's most densely populated area. Bhaktapur sustained significant damage during the earthquake that occurred in April 2015.
