Koppang is the administrative centre of Stor-Elvdal Municipality, located in the Innlandet county of Norway. Situated within the Østerdalen valley, the village is positioned along the banks of the Glomma river.
The settlement serves as a transportation hub, with both the Rørosbanen railway and Norwegian National Road 3 running through the area. Koppang Station provides a stop for the railway service. The village features various local amenities, including several schools, shops, a cultural center, a movie theater, a library, a bookstore, a bank, and Koppang Church. Additionally, the newspaper Østerdølen has been published in Koppang since 1999.
