Egersund is a town located in Eigersund Municipality within the Rogaland county of Norway. It is situated along the southwestern coast of the country, approximately 75 kilometres (47 mi) south of the city of Stavanger.
The town is positioned along a strait that separates the Norwegian mainland from the island of Eigerøya. Historically, Egersund functioned as an independent municipality from 1838 until 1964.
