Kristiansund is a municipality located on the western coast of Norway within the Nordmøre district of Møre og Romsdal county. The town of Kristiansund serves as the administrative center for the municipality and functions as the primary town for the entire Nordmøre region.
In addition to the main town, the municipality contains several other notable settlements, including the villages of Kvalvåg, Rensvik, and Nedre Frei.
