Hammerfest, also known as Hámmárfeasta, is a town and city located in Norway. It serves as the administrative center for Hammerfest Municipality within the Finnmark county. The city is situated on the northwestern coast of the island of Kvaløya, positioned just north of the village of Rypefjord and southwest of the village of Forsøl.
The town covers an area of 3.02 square kilometres (750 acres). As of 2023, Hammerfest has a population of 7,882 residents, resulting in a population density of approximately 2,610 inhabitants per square kilometre.
