Deventer is a city and municipality located in the Salland historical region of the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands. As of 2020, the municipality had a population of 100,913.
The city is primarily situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, though a small portion of its territory extends to the west bank. In 2005, the municipality of Bathmen was merged with Deventer as part of a national initiative aimed at reducing bureaucracy within the country.
