Voorschoten is a town and municipality located in the western part of the Netherlands within the province of South Holland. It is situated in the Randstad region and is bordered by the cities of Leiden, Wassenaar, and Leidschendam-Voorburg.
The municipality covers a total area of 11.56 km2 (4.46 sq mi), with approximately 0.42 km2 (0.16 sq mi) of that landmass covered by water.
