Rotterdam is a city located in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands. It serves as the second-largest city in the country by population and holds the distinction of being the largest by area, covering 319.4 km2.
The city is situated at the North Sea mouth of the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta. It is connected to the Meuse via the New Meuse inland shipping channel, which was originally dug for that purpose but now also connects to the Rhine.
