Capelle aan den IJssel is a large town and municipality located in the western Netherlands within the province of South Holland. It covers an area of 15.40 km2 (5.95 sq mi), with approximately 1.26 km2 (0.49 sq mi) consisting of water.
The municipality is situated on the eastern edge of Rotterdam along the Hollandse IJssel river. As of 2021, the population of Capelle aan den IJssel was 67,319.
