Leidsche Rijn is a neighborhood and new construction site located in Utrecht, the capital of the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is situated west of the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal, and its name originates from the Leidse Rijn canal that passes through the area.
Developed beginning in the 1990s, Leidsche Rijn was established as the largest Vinex location in the Netherlands during its inception and subsequent decades. The development primarily occupied territory formerly belonging to the municipality of Vleuten-De Meern, with a smaller portion situated within the municipality of Utrecht, specifically in the areas known as Hoge and Lage Weide.
