Aalsmeer

Aalsmeer is a municipality and town situated in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. It is located approximately 13 km (8 mi) southwest of Amsterdam.

The name Aalsmeer originates from the Dutch words for eel (aal) and lake (meer). The town is geographically bordered by the Ringvaart Canal and the Westeinderplassen, which is recognized as the largest open water area in the Randstad region.
