Maastricht

Maastricht is a city and municipality located in the southeastern region of the Netherlands. It serves as the capital and largest city within the province of Limburg. The city is situated on both sides of the Meuse river at the confluence where it is joined by the Jeker.

The city's geography includes Mount Saint Peter (Sint-Pietersberg), which lies largely within its municipal borders. Due to its location, Maastricht is adjacent to the Belgian border and forms part of the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. This international metropolis has a population of approximately 3.9 million and encompasses nearby cities in Germany and Belgium, including Aachen, Liège, and Hasselt.
