Geleen is a city located in the southern part of the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. As of 2020, the city had a population of 31,670 inhabitants and serves as a constituent part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen.
The town is situated along the Geleenbeek, which is a right tributary to the river Meuse. The Latin name for the Geleenbeek is Glana, which translates to "clear river." The town centre sits at an elevation of approximately 60 meters above sea level.
