Blerick is a city district located within the Dutch municipality of Venlo. Situated on the west bank of the Meuse river, the area has historical roots dating back to the Roman era. During that period, it served as a military stronghold and settlement positioned along the route between Mosa Trajectum (Maastricht) and Noviomagus (Nijmegen).
The location appears on the Peutinger Table under the name Blariacum. Historically, Blerick functioned as part of a single municipality alongside Baarlo and Maasbree until the end of the second world war. Following German rule, it was subsequently incorporated into the municipality of Venlo.
