Doetinchem is a city and municipality located in the eastern part of the Netherlands. It is situated within the province of Gelderland, specifically in a region known as the Achterhoek. The city lies along the banks of the Oude IJssel river.
As of 2021, the municipality had a population of 58,270 residents. It covers a total area of 79.66 km² (30.76 sq mi), with 0.61 km² (0.24 sq mi) consisting of water. Doetinchem is recognized as the largest town in the Achterhoek region.
