Dokkum

Dokkum is a fortified Dutch city located in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân within the province of Friesland. The city has a population of 12,669 inhabitants and serves as a notable regional center, ranking as the fifth most popular shopping city in Friesland.

The city is characterized by its well-preserved fortifications, which are known as the bolwerken (bulwarks). Historically, Dokkum was also home to the smallest hospital in the Netherlands.
