Utila is the smallest of the major Bay Islands in Honduras. Located in a region that marks the southern terminus of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, it sits near the second-largest reef system globally.
The island has been documented since Christopher Columbus's fourth voyage. It remains a notable geographical point within the Caribbean coastal region of Honduras.
