Granada is the capital city of the province of Granada, located within the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It is situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains at the confluence of four rivers: the Darro, the Genil, the Monachil, and the Beiro.
The city sits at an average elevation of 738 meters (2,421 feet) above sea level in the Vega de Granada comarca, approximately 50 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast. As of 2024, it has a population of 233,532, making it the 20th-largest city in Spain and an important region for wine production.
