Chinandega

Nicaragua

Chinandega is a city located in the Chinandega Department region of Nicaragua. It serves as the departmental seat and the administrative center for the surrounding municipality of the same name. The city is situated approximately 134 kilometres (83 mi) northwest of the capital, Managua, and about 72 kilometres (45 mi) southwest of El Guasaule on the border with Honduras.

The city is positioned roughly 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the Pacific Ocean. It ranks as Nicaragua's second most important city in terms of economy and is its sixth-largest city. As of recent data, Chinandega has a population of 115,067, while the total population of the municipality is 137,539.
