The zun (also known as yi) is a type of Chinese ritual wine vessel that was utilized until the Northern Song dynasty (960–1126). These vessels first appeared during the Shang dynasty and were crafted from either bronze or ceramic materials. They are characterized by a round or square vase-like form, though they are also frequently fashioned into various animal shapes.
Primarily used in religious ceremonies to hold wine, the zun features a wide lip designed to facilitate easy pouring. Archaeological finds include vessels shaped like dragons, oxen, and geese. A notable example of this type of vessel is the He zun, which dates back to the Western Zhou period.
