Talata Mafara

Talata Mafara is a Local Government Area located in the Zamfara State of Nigeria. The administrative headquarters of the area is situated in the town of Talata Mafara, which is positioned approximately 15 km from the Bakolori Dam on the Sokoto River.

The town is notable for its location on the southern edge of a major irrigation project that is fed by the Bakolori Dam. Additionally, it is recognized as the birthplace of Yahaya Abdulkarim, who served as the governor of Sokoto State from January 1992 to November 1993.
